University Of Manchester Develops Vision Chip For New Generation Of 'Human' Robots The eyes have it for 'human' robots

From the article:
- "Our basic premise is that nature builds systems very well, and if we can mimic those systems then we hope to be able to build better robots which combine the best of both the computer and the human worlds," says Dr Dudek.
From the article:
- "Like the human eye, the chip will process very complex images at rapid rates, filtering them through to the robot's 'brain' and enabling it to react in real time."
The Vision Chip will be based on a prototype which Dudek has spent the last seven years developing. It measures one square centimetre and contains 16,384 microprocessors enabling images to be sensed and processed at ultra-high speeds.
The chip will form the integral part of a wider vision system built around a high resolution camera and a lower resolution peripheral camera.

This press release was EXTREMELY ambiguous.
The number of "microprocessors " is irrelevant until they release what kind of "filtering" and "processing" will be done.
The problem with computer vision isn't simply engineering. Increasing resolution, dynamic range sensitivity, imager size, and processor speeds are all GREAT.
The big problem is scientific. We still don't know the algorithms the human brain uses well enough to even begin to emulate it.
So what exactly are they mimicking with this processor?
Clearly there is no wet-ware. This is an announcement about hardware, not some new algorithm. I'm left thinking that this is just an imager with a processor on-board, maybe with variable resolution. That isn't much.
Dedicated hardware for somewhat proven techniques like or or this would be great. This doesn’t claim to do that.

THERE IS A FAULT TO THESE. THEY USE THEM IN COURT AND IF YOU THINK OF SOMETHING,HAVE A FANTASY ETC. THEY ACTUALLY THINK YOU HAVE DONE IT. THIS IS FAULTY AND THIS PRECEEDURE NEED TO BE OVER RULED AND THE CHIP DETROYED. YOU HAVE ABUSED GODS WISDOM. THE BIBLE SAYS ALL WISDOM COPMES FROM GOD. GOD ALSO, SAY DO NTO ABUSE SOMETHING. WELL I AM A PRIME EXAMPLE OF THE ABUSE AND TORTURE OF YOUR TECHNOLOGY. I HAVE NOT BEEN PAID ONE PENNY FRO THE ABUSE . I WOKE UP WITH ONE IN MY HEAD. YOU NEED TO E SHUT DOWN FOR WAT YOU AHVE DONE AND ARE DOING TO INDIVIDUALS. THE DOCTORS ARE IMPLANTING THESE INTO EVERYBODY THAT IS BEING BROUGHT INTO THE HOSPITAL. SO THEY CAN READ YOUR MIND AND THOUGHTS. IT IS FOR MONEY NOT FOR THE LOVE OF THE PEOPLE. YOUR A FRAUD IN MY OPINION.
